Salon's coverage ~ Perzel among 10 charged in Pa. legislative probe
From the inbox, Russ Diamond of PACleanSweep fame writes:
Surprise, Surprise Surprise
Folks you may remember when, during the height of PACleanSweep' s popularity, a site called uncleansweep. com popped up to smear me and others in an effort to sink our ship. We fired back, filing a lawsuit to expose the owner of that site. Turned out the owner was one Bob Nye, a House Republican Caucus employee in Harrisburg.
It was my opinion at the time that this was not a loyal Republican fellow acting on his own, as was his cover story. Rather, it was my opinion that it was a concerted effort possibly using taxpayer dollars to illegally stomp electoral competition.
Our action to pursue this lawsuit was a major contributing factor in the eventual split on the PACleanSweep Board of Directors. (Y'all remember that fun, right?) I wrote all about it in my book (http://www.raintree .com/spear) but since the lawsuit was dismissed, we had no leverage to pry the box open further to find out the true story behind that website.
Well, today's grand jury presentment addressing the indictment of John Perzel and others definitively points to uncleansweep. com as a "Special Project" of the District Operations arm of the House Republican caucus. Our lawsuit scared the crap out of them, apparently, but not enough to keep them from getting in trouble. They just couldn't help themselves.
